PORSCHE 928 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. If your shift knob is connected to the boot, you may need a little force to pry it free. The shift boot just pulls off.

2.  Installation is simple and in the reverse order of removal. stretch the elastic on the new boot to attach to the frame one corner at a time. The corners/curves in the new boot correspond to the corners of the frame. The leather may need to be stretched a little to fit, but over a short time will settle into the perfect shape.

3. Once the boot is secured to the frame, make sure the leather on the underside does not overlap any of the tabs as this will inhibit the frame to snap into place. Simply dress the shifter through the boot and press down on the corners of the frame until it snaps into place. If you have trouble at first getting it to stay in place, remove the boot and frame and check the underside again; the leather may have slipped over the tabs during handling.

4. Slide the entire cover back on to the lever. You may need to move the lever up and down to allow the cover to slide into place, make sure that your car is in 'Park', or put it in gear is you have a manual transmission. Be sure the car is on a level surface.

Useful tip

You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking.
